Nudes & Contour | Maybelline

In my opinion nothing beats a neutral eye and a nice summer bronze,it's the look I go for most days all year round, quick, easy and goes with everything! So when I seen that Maybelline had brought out these new products here, I knew I had to try them!

Maybelline Master Sculpt Contour Palette - £6.99

First of all let's talk about the contour palette, which comes with both the powder bronzer and highlight in one compact! It comes in two colours light/medium and medium/dark, this one I have is light/medium and I have to say is only really suitable as a contour powder for a very fair skin tone as it is much lighter than I thought it would be. The highlighter is a lovely light shade with a slight sheen so leaves a nice and natural glow on the skin! The powder is nice and creamy so it's great to blend in and the brush that comes with it underneath is great to contour and sculpt the face (sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the brush, but its your general flat oval shaped brush).

The only downside was the colour, I could use this as a very natural bronzer in the winter months when I have no colour on the face but definitely not to contour, so I would recommend going for the darker shade! However, this product is great to start off experimenting with contouring at a great price!

Maybelline The Nudes Palette - £9.99

I was impressed with the size and variety of colours this palette has to offer at such a good price! It has the perfect nude shades with both shimmer and matte options, which blend lovely together as well as achieve a day to night time look easily. The packaging is very compact and nice and thin so is perfect for putting in your bag or travelling and you won't need any other eye shadows!

I did find when applying the product onto the lid it did take a little longer for the colour to build up for some of the lighter and matte shades, but for the price it is great palette with a huge variety of shades to achieve so many nude eye looks!

Maybelline have certainly impressed me with these products, especially the nude palette and kept the prices very affordable! Boots have Maybelline products on a buy one get 2nd half price offer at the moment so you can pick them up for even cheaper!

Let me know if you've tried these products? What were your thoughts? :)

Graduation!

Just over a week ago now, I attended what will be one of the most memorable days I will have in my life. When I started University three years ago I just wanted to just get my degree and often wished time would go quick and couldn't wait for graduation day to come. During first year, it wasn't what I expected and I found it really difficult! But as time went by and I made amazing friends and accepted that I needed to enjoy my time as a student and make the most of my time at University, I began to stop stressing and start really enjoying my life at University.

I studied a BA (Hons) in Performance and along with the course came the most talented, greatest people who have made the last three years a time to remember! As time went on I started to really enjoy the whole experience, learn and fall in love with areas of Performance I would have never thought of doing three years ago. I also grew as a person and learnt not to put so much pressure on myself and simply do my best!

When third year came to an end and this day arrived I wanted nothing more than to start those three years all over again, I know time goes quick but I can't believe how quickly the last three years have went. I felt anxious, proud, super excited and sad all at the same time, because although I knew myself and the people around me had done so well and we had been through so much together, I couldn't help but think that I won't be heading to University everyday. I won't be going into rehearsals, laughing and crying from one moment to the next and I simply won't be able to see the faces which have became familiar with me over the next three years, that I now call my friends, everyday...

Although it is sad and everything will change and be different, the last 3 years have been unbelievable and I know we'll keep in touch, after all we're drama students! But most of all...WE DID IT! We put those cloaks and hats on, we collected our scrolls and we threw our hats up in the air and it was the best feeling ever and one which I know I will never forget!

So now I have officially graduated with a First Class Honours in Performance and I couldn't be happier! Of course it feels really strange and come September when I won't be heading back into education for the first time, I'm sure it will definitely hit me then! But I'm excited for what the future holds and I had a perfect day to end my time in education. I finally feel ready to head into the real world, maybe not become an adult yet.. but that will come in time, right?!

Finally, I just want to say a huge thank you to all my family and friends for the support, the memories and the gifts which I will always cherish, I feel so grateful to have so many amazing people in my life!

Well done to everyone who has graduated, as cheesy and cliche as it sounds, it's time to go out there, find yourself and chase those dreams! :)

Hotel Du Vin | Birthday Celebrations!

Recently it was James' birthday so I took him to the Hotel Du Vin, Newcastle for the night to celebrate, it was a beautiful hotel with great food and I have to say the pictures don't do it justice, but I hope you get a little feel for just how wonderful it is...

The rooms were so cosy, with high ceilings with a fireplace, old red brick and dark oak wood. It reminded me of a modern, very sophisticated cottage! It was one of the nicest styled hotels I had been too, I love anything with a warm old, wooden feel and this was just that! I had the best nights sleep I have to add, the bed was the most comfiest bed EVER!

(It was extremely sunny this day, which didn't work well with these photos!)

Perfect location up from the quayside, meant we spent our day having a lovely walk in the sun and having a few drinks!

The restaurant was beautiful, very dark and romantic and we ordered the rump steak and shared creme brulee for desert, yum! The only downside to this was we were really looking forward to order the Chateaubriand but they had none avaliable which was really disappointing, as it was meant to be really good so I imagine a lot of people would have wanted order this in such a nice restaurant!

The view from our hotel room was beautiful!

This was my outfit for the night! It was lovely and comfy but nice and dressy too, the dress I got from New York in Express and the wedges from New Look!

It was a lovely evening and was a great deal! I got the Sunday Stopover package which gets you the room for £25 if you spend £75 in the restaurant which is such a great offer when you are wanting a lovely dinner for a special occasion! We have also done this at the Malmaison and the Village Hotel which were lovely in the past. I believe this offer is on every Sunday in quite a few places in the UK, so I definitely recommend it for a nice, special weekend!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures, I will see you very soon with a new post! :)

Clean, Clear & Shine Free Skin! | La Roche-Posay

Today I thought I'd share with you a new little favourite of mine that I bought a little while ago but haven't got around to using...until these past few weeks! I posted a while ago about the Avene skincare for oily skin I had been using and I loved that but I started to find it a tad too matte after sometime and I still like a little hydration for my skin! So for a change I thought I'd try something new. I've been really happy with my Philosophy moisturiser and eye cream I blogged about but really needed an everyday face wash to keep the oils at bay and something which works well for my skin!

This is when I found this beauty. I have tried some of the skincare from La Roche-Posay in the past and was pretty impressed with it so I thought I'd pick this up and give it a try. It is a foaming gel for oily, sensitive skin which is soap-free and clears impurities! You only need a small amount and it lathers when you add water to create a lovely foam. After rinsing your skin feels fresh and really clean, leaving your skin soft with no excess oil, but what I loved was how it doesn't leave your skin feeling dry or extremely matte.

It wasn't the feel or the way it washed my skin which has made me love this product but the effects it has had on my skin over the weeks of using it, my skin has felt even, clear and I have very little breakouts when using this product! My skin has honestly never felt better. I feel using this face wash for oily skin and pairing it with a more hydrating moisturiser has helped, as I am not banishing all the oils and have found a happy-medium where my skin looks dewy, fresh and clear... which has worked great for me, especially during the summer!

I am really impressed overall which is why I needed to share it with you! I think for anyone out there with blemish-prone or an oily skin type this could work great for you, like it has for me! I will definitely be trying more from this brand in the future... Way to go La Roche-Posay!

Have you got any recommendations for skincare which you have found great recently? Let me know :)

Hints, Tips and Recommendations for your first time in New York City!

After sharing some of my most memorable moments and pictures from my trip to New York, I thought I'd do a little post to let you in on some tips and places I would recommend for anyone going there for the first time! This was our first time, but through lots of research and other people's suggestions we went to some amazing places, got great deals and done a lot in our time there which I would love to share with you!

  • Plan, Plan...PLAN!
First of all, which is top of the list is... planning! This is such a busy holiday so you need to plan what you want to see and how you can fit it all in! We done a schedule, based around where each attraction or site was, making sure we done that in a day so we weren't travelling from one end of New York too the other all in a day!

We were recommended this pass, which I have spoke about on my other New York post's and I am so glad we were! It saved us so much money and gets you into the majority of the main attractions in New York, here are a few of my favourite which we got in for free with the pass..

- Empire State Building Observation Deck
- Madison Square Garden, All Access Tour
- New York Skyride
- Rockefeller Centre, Top of the rock
- Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
- The Ride
- Madam Tussauds
- Inside Broadway Tours
- On Location Movie Tours
- Museums
- Bike Rentals for Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge

We got the pass for 5 days and done all the main attractions, so we could have a couple of days to shop and take it a little easy, we also bought the 3 day hop on hop off bus which was so handy and not a lot extra to purchase!

  • Choose something a little different...
Try something new or book something unexpected when your there, we went to see a basketball game and another musical! It was an in the moment decision but I'm really glad we did! Gives you a little chance relax and enjoy the talent of New York! Next time I think it will be a helicopter ride, we were going to do it this time around but just didn't have enough time to fit it in.

For the musicals, you need to book beforehand for a big musical like Wicked which is really popular, when we went to see Les Mes we got really cheap tickets whilst we were there which you can find in Times Square at the tkts point, or what we done was download an app called 'Today Tix' with all discounted tickets on for loads of shows, we also got a discount code when we went on the Inside Broadway tours which we used! I highly suggest checking them out!
  • Research good restaurants!
This something I learnt when there which we didn't do this enough, I would suggest finding a lot of places and writing down the area before you go so you have some options when you are on the go! I wish I had of done this more because there are so many eating places in New York but you are constantly on the go so it's good to have some options in advance..

If you want to go to a really popular restaurant which you think may be busy, I would recommend reserving a table!
  • Take a lot of pictures and remember to take in the beauty of the city around you..
Sometimes when you are in the moment and constantly on the go seeing all the sights, you forget about taking pictures and taking in your surroundings! I took more pictures than necessary, but I can look back and remember each moment when I took it. This is an amazing place and amongst all the busy and hustle and bustle of the city you need to remember to take your time and make the most of each moment you have adventuring around the big apple!

So there it is, my most important hints and tips when travelling to NYC, I hope you enjoyed the posts of my time there, it was definitely one to remember...I wish I was back there now looking back at it all!

I hope this post helped you if you are planning an upcoming trip to New York!( I am super jealous if you are!) Comment below if you would like to ask any questions, or have any tips of your own which you could add to this list :)

A Taste Of New York City!

Hope your having a lovely Sunday! Today I thought I would share with you a mouth watering blog post and show you some tasty pictures of the food and treats I had whilst in New York! I have to warn you if you are looking for healthy food choices, you won't find them here! With a few exceptions (which I never actually took pictures of haha!) the majority of the food shown here went from burgers, to cheesecake to cheesy goodness, but hey I was on holiday so why not! haha...

Hard Rock Cafe - This burger was just as good as it looked!

Junior's - So we seen this place was known for its No.1 cheesecake and being huge cheesecakes lovers like we are, we just had to try! I have to admit it was one of the best I've ever had, we shared a original New York slice and it was unbelievably tasty! (I wish we had this in the UK!)

Planet Hollywood - We never planned on coming here, but I always love a nice NY strip steak and this was beautiful, along with the mash and vegetables it was probably one of my top meals of the trip!

Quality Italian - So we had researched restaurants before going to NY and this place was known for and had great reviews of the Chicken Parmigiana, which looked amazing! But I have to say I was really disappointed I ended up having one slice and it was so salty and rich I couldn't face anymore! I wanted to give my honest opinion on these restaurants and this didn't taste as good as it looked for me unfortunately! It was lovely inside and very fancy, we didn't pre-book so we sat next to the bar, it was fine for us but I would recommend booking in advance for these type of restaurants if you can!

Shake Shack - This was not such a great picture but I just had to put it in, this place was amazing, it was always busy so we decided to go in and I am soooo glad we did! Best fast food place hands down - go if you have the chance, you won't be disappointed!

Chevvy's - A lovely Mexican restaurant, I loved it! Another place I wish we had here..

TAORMINA - This was in little Italy, it was really nice and traditional and the food was lovely!

Ben & Jerry's - enough said!

Dippin Dots - My favourite little treat, its a must when I go to America!

Carlo's Bakery - Being a huge fan of Cake Boss, I was really excited to go here! The cakes all looked so good and there was a huge variety! The cheesecake was really good, I chose the cannoli which I was actually disappointed with,  it wasn't the best but I think I made a bad choice, looking back I wish I had of chose something different as there was so much choice!

We also went to Magnolia Bakery! I didn't take a picture of what we got but I wish I did,  we chose the caramel pecan cheesecake and red velvet cake! They were amazinggggg best bakery hands down - you must try it!

So there it is, some scrumptious pictures and places I visited to eat when in New York City! The amount of places to go for food are endless. We really went to a lot of places during our adventures and although we had researched loads of great places beforehand, when you are on the go you just don't know where your going to end up! Next time I visit NYC I will definitely be trying new different and quirky places around the city, we just wanted to see as much as we could on our first visit so we weren't always sitting down to be wined and dined!

I hope you enjoyed this little food post, watch out for a new post later this week! :)
