Touchdown In London Town!

Hello I'm back with my Sunday blog post, as I promised I'm here with some of the sights from my weekend away in London - when I visit I always understand why the city captures the heart of so many people, from the hustle and bustle, the lights to the show stopping sights - it is definitely one of a kind...

Walking the streets there is always something going on and places to look at - the buildings are simply beautiful!

Then we have those famous monuments to admire and of course take pictures!

I loved Camden Market - so many stalls to wander with something unique on every stand, let's not to forgot the food - SO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM! I had a lovely Chinese but you could spend your day eating foods from all over the world..

One night we ate at 'Rossopomodoro' it was gorgeous, definitely one of the best pizzas I have EVER tasted and that's a big statement, but the dough and tomato base made this pizza so fresh and tasty - I think I spoke about it the entire weekend!

We also ate at a Moroccan restaurant called 'Souk Madina' which was amazing (unfortuntley I couldn't take any pictures it was soo dark!) It was small, cosy and so beautiful,  you felt like you were in the heart of Morocco - if your looking for something different try this place - tucked away with amazing food.

The Buckingham Palace always takes my breathe away - I had to get a picture with it!

So there you have it - some shots from my time in London! It was a busy but brilliant weekend, not only did we see the sites eat some amazing food but we saw Cirque Beserk (a circus show with acrobats and amazing talent - it certainly had me on the edge of my seat) and we visited Madam Tussauds which are some things you can't miss when you visit!

I'm sure we'll be back again soon this year to visit my brother and definitely see more shows/musicals,  the amount of art in this city is unbelievable and being a performance graduate there is unlimited amount of things in London I want to see! It definitely is where dreams are made thats for sure...

What are your favourite sites in London?

The Dream Velvet Foundation & Blender | Maybelline

Hello, I'm back! Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to post over the weekend, I had a lovely time in London, visiting my brother and doing a lot of sightseeing which I'll be sharing with you on the blog later this week!
Recently I've been trying this new foundation and blender by Maybelline so thought I would share with you my thoughts of how it lasted on the skin and if they are possibly a new 'must have',  for the make-up bag...

First off, I loved the look of these products, a beauty blender on a stick and a hydrating matte foundation made me really excited! It was a must that I tried these...

The Dream Velvet Foundation - As a teenager I loved the dream matte mousse (I think most of us did!) it was great to stay matte and this reminded me of mousse, but a thinner substance in a tube form. I loved the feel of this on the skin, very lightweight and smoothed over the skin lovely making a medium coverage with a natural matte finish. However, the make-up did not last all day, on areas I get oily (the chin, nose and forehead) it did start to separate and rub off very easy. I would recommend this for just out and about and for something quick and easy,  but if you want it to last all day and have oily skin this might not be the best choice for you!

The Dream Blender - This looked really different and I was interested to see how this would work with having something to hold onto and being a smaller applicator than what I was used to. Firstly, I like to use my blender damp which didn't seem to work with this one and I have to say this is much firmer which made it hard for me to blend the make-up and it seemed to soak into the sponge as it took longer to blend the foundation. I was unfortunately really disappointed with this, I think I'll have to stick with my original beauty blender, as personally I prefer it softer and larger to get a better blend, evenly and quicker.

I hope you enjoyed this review of Maybelline's new products, there are so many new and exciting beauty products out lately which I can't wait to try and share with you on my blog! See you with another post this weekend...

Have you tried either of these new beauty buys? What are your thoughts? :)

The Mattifying POREfessional | Benefit Review

Happy Valentines Day!

Today I thought I'd share with you a little review of the new Benefit POREfessional primer which I have been using lately - I love to try new mattifying primer's so I was interested to see how this would feel on the skin paired with my make-up...

First off I loved the packaging and the product is much bigger than I thought it would be, so although it is a little pricey it should last quite a while!

When I first applied the product, although it is a gel consistency it did feel quite wet and thin which I don't normally like in a primer, I usually go for something thick and creamier rather than a liquid. But although I didn't like the way it felt on the skin when I first applied, it did set and turn matte pretty quickly and leave the skin feeling lovely and smooth ready to apply the foundation on top. I can't say the primer keeps me matte all day I do still have to set with powder and get shiny by the end of the day but it is definitely a great base for my makeup and makes my skin feel great without any shine in the morning!

If you have oily skin - definitely give this a try, great size and leaves the skin smooth and set ready for a good make-up day!

Hope you are having a lovely Valentines Day whatever you are up too, I'm now getting ready to go out for a lovely meal and drinks!
Have a great week! :)

Pancake Day The Jamie Oliver Way!

Happy Pancake Day!

I am a huge pancake fan so this day is right down my street! This year I swore I would make them from scratch and not the easy made-up mix that I usually go for! I wanted thick, fluffy american style pancakes and thanks to the Jamie Oliver recipe, they turned out a great success so I had to share it with you all! It was super easy, few ingredients and really quick - but most of all tasted AMAZING!

  • 3 large free-range eggs
  • 115 g plain flour
  • 1 heaped teaspoon baking powder
  • 140 ml milk
  • 1 pinch salt
What to do?

Separate the eggs, putting the whites into one bowl and the yolks into another.
Add the flour, baking powder and milk to the yolks and mix to a smooth thick batter.
Whisk the whites with the salt until they form stiff peaks.
Fold into the batter – it is now ready to use.
Heat on a medium heat, pour on batter (any size you wish) and when golden brown it is ready to flip!

It was really easy to do and turned out a hit! I added golden syrup, blueberries chopped banana and a spoon full of Nutella at the end! ( I got a full jar, this was a bad idea - let's see how long it lasts!)

If you are looking for a yummy, american pancake recipe that all the family will love try this out - you'll love it! I can't wait to try more of Jamie Oliver's recipes...

I can't believe we are heading into Lent/Easter - it feels like two minutes since this time last year! I hope you have had a great day, full of tasty pancakes.

Have a great week! :)

Finding The Perfect Red Lip | Valentines Make Up

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I thought I would share with you three of my favourite Red Lips, each a very different formula, shade and price range but each perfect for a Valentine's make-up look...

LOreal Colour Riche (461)

This a very beautiful classic red shade, moisturising with a sheen it looks perfect as a statement lip and winged liner. As it is such a bright shade, I think it looks great on a paler skin tone and would work for a day time lunch or a night time event - you can't go wrong with a classic!

Collection Gothic Glam Lipstick - Seduction

This is definitely more on the plum side, but I thought it was good to include a darker toned lipstick because we don't all like/suit a red lip! I personally prefer a plum shade and this is gorgeous, not too dark and with a slight shimmer it stays on the lips nicely keeping them hydrated and looks great on it's own with little make-up or with a smokey eye for a fuller evening glamorous look! Collection is a very affordable range which I love and these lipsticks are great for the price..

MAC matte lipstick - Ruby Woo

I thought I would include something matte, as I have been loving matte lipsticks lately. This is extremely long lasting and is the perfect red shade for a sophisticated classic look. It is a little more pricey than the other two but this shade is unlike any others I have found and is a shade of red which I think suits all skin tones and looks beautiful as a statement lip!

So that's it, those are my top three red lipsticks which are all very different from one another but look great. I have been using these as my go to reds for a long time now and I'm yet to find anything that takes there place! These are great for any occasion, whether you are shopping with friends, having a DVD night in or going for a lovely meal and drinks.
Adding a red lip to your make up look makes you feel glamorous and put together, absolutely perfect if you don't have time or want a pick me up or add some colour to your chosen overall look!

What is your favourite red lipstick? :)
