One Heck Of A Blot | Soap & Glory Review

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Today I'm back with another little review. Lately I have been on the hunt for a perfect foundation for summer - first up on the list was the Soap & Glory One Heck Of a Blot Foundation...

I have been looking to try this foundation for a while now and with having such oily skin it sounded great for me. On the packaging it states it is long wearing, a liquid to powder finish and leaves the skin shine free so all in all perfect for the summer!

When I first chose the foundation I was disappointed with the colour range, they don't have a lot and the jump in tone shifts dramatically from the lightest to the next shade. I ended up picking up 'fair enough' which is the lightest shade, for when I'm not wearing any fake tan but still want to wear foundation - as I don't have a lot which match me at my palest! But when I tried this on the face it was very very light much lighter than even my natural skin tone but the next shade up was much darker. I have still been wearing it and using powder and bronzer to deepen the shade a little.

I have tried it using a lot of different methods, with a primer or without, a beauty blender or stippling brush and setting powder or on its own, to find out the best way to use this on my skin. I found the consistency pretty thin for a long wearing foundation and hard to blend evenly with a brush it was a lot easier with a beauty blender. After trying all the different ways the best was no primer and setting it with powder -  as unfortunately it did not stay shine free, after a few hours I was so shiny and the foundation was almost gone from my face, it was that bad if I touched my face you would see the mark where the make-up was rubbing off. It was much better with a powder and lasted longer with a good coverage which was definitely as it states - cake free.

I've got to admit I'm not a huge fan of this foundation, I don't think it will be the best for the summer and wish it had a better colour range to choose from. But with a good setting powder and for those who have don't have a lot of oil on the skin and want a cake free semi matte foundation this would be great for you! Or even for those with a very fair skin this colour is great as it can be hard to find really light foundations in a lot of brands.

I'm glad I tried it, but I'm still on the hunt for that perfect summer make-up! Have you got any foundation favourites for a shine free face in summer? Let me know :)

Travelling & Being Happy | Life Thoughts

I'm back! Sorry for the lack of posts over the past couple of weeks, I have been crazy busy! So today I thought I'd do a little post to explain what's been going on, my plans and overall thoughts lately :) ....

It feels like forever since I've sat down and had the chance to write - life has been busy and the time seems to be running away - can you believe we are in May already!! With working as much as I can to save, save, save, it's been hard to plan and have a moment to work on my blog - days off are always jam packed, but it feels good to get back on here and let you know my plans!

As I mentioned in my new year post, this year I'm going travelling - which is going to be here before I know it, it's getting closer and closer!
We are off to the USA, Hawaii and Australia and honestly - I CAN'T WAIT! I have to admit although it sounds crazy, this was a big decision for me because in all honesty I am just a home girl. There is nothing I love more than being at home with my family and enjoying everyone around me - feeling settled and content in this little city. But as much as I love those times, I feel like I have got to a point in my life where I am ready go out there and experience other parts of this world - one thing I know is that I want to have as many opportunities as I can to travel and see the world. There is so many places out there that I sit and imagine what it would be like to see and spend some time there and what better way to find out then to go on an adventure and experience them for myself.

So all in all there has been a lot of planning and things to think about over the past few months to try and get things sorted and feel somewhat prepared for our adventure!
& all I want this post to say, is not only why I haven't had time to post as often - but really no matter what you want to do in life - go for it! We only have this one little life, so make the most of it - visit as many places as you can - live for now and enjoy every single moment - and don't worry about finding the perfect job or the perfect house if that's not in your plan right now, those things will come if that's what you want and want to work towards, but don't feel pressured, you can choose how to live your life!

You are responsible for finding your happiness! :)

I would also LOVE for any advice, facts, inspiration or anything at all about travelling or places where are great to go and stay/visit? This is all very new for me so I would appreciate any thoughts you have, and I will certainly be back with another post soon, I've definitely missed it!

Soothing A Sensitive Scalp! | Garnier Ultimate Blends

This Sunday's blog post I thought I would share with you a product which has been a life saver for me recently!

A few weeks ago I had a really dry and sensitive scalp, which I had no idea how, as it wasn't something I had ever suffered with before. But safe to say it was driving me mad! I decided to really look at the beauty products I was using and start using products for sensitive skin with little or no fragrance! That is when I came across the new Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair and Body Range...

I had used this range when it came out a few years ago and was impressed so I thought I would give the new updated products a try. The Delicate Soother caught my eye as it had no parabens and was for a sensitive scalp which is what I'd been suffering from! I wasn't quite sure about the scent to start with, rice cream and oat milk sounded way to sickly for my liking but surprisingly it is lovely - a fresh, clean and subtle scent. It immediately done what it says - I no longer had irritation and my hair just felt so soft and healthy after using it! The range also has body lotions and butters - I tried the lotion and love that as well. I think it'll be perfect for over the summer, when coming out of the sun, plus the whole family can use it without worrying if it will irritate the skin or leave a strong scent!

I now feel back to normal and it has made me realise that sticking to the simple products without all the extra added ingredients and harsh fragrances is the best thing for your skin - not only is it a safe option but it does the same or even sometimes better of a job than all of those other products on the market!

I love this range - I have used nothing else since I tried it and think it will be a staple in my bathroom for a while! Have you used it?
