One Heck Of A Blot | Soap & Glory Review

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Today I'm back with another little review. Lately I have been on the hunt for a perfect foundation for summer - first up on the list was the Soap & Glory One Heck Of a Blot Foundation...

I have been looking to try this foundation for a while now and with having such oily skin it sounded great for me. On the packaging it states it is long wearing, a liquid to powder finish and leaves the skin shine free so all in all perfect for the summer!

When I first chose the foundation I was disappointed with the colour range, they don't have a lot and the jump in tone shifts dramatically from the lightest to the next shade. I ended up picking up 'fair enough' which is the lightest shade, for when I'm not wearing any fake tan but still want to wear foundation - as I don't have a lot which match me at my palest! But when I tried this on the face it was very very light much lighter than even my natural skin tone but the next shade up was much darker. I have still been wearing it and using powder and bronzer to deepen the shade a little.

I have tried it using a lot of different methods, with a primer or without, a beauty blender or stippling brush and setting powder or on its own, to find out the best way to use this on my skin. I found the consistency pretty thin for a long wearing foundation and hard to blend evenly with a brush it was a lot easier with a beauty blender. After trying all the different ways the best was no primer and setting it with powder -  as unfortunately it did not stay shine free, after a few hours I was so shiny and the foundation was almost gone from my face, it was that bad if I touched my face you would see the mark where the make-up was rubbing off. It was much better with a powder and lasted longer with a good coverage which was definitely as it states - cake free.

I've got to admit I'm not a huge fan of this foundation, I don't think it will be the best for the summer and wish it had a better colour range to choose from. But with a good setting powder and for those who have don't have a lot of oil on the skin and want a cake free semi matte foundation this would be great for you! Or even for those with a very fair skin this colour is great as it can be hard to find really light foundations in a lot of brands.

I'm glad I tried it, but I'm still on the hunt for that perfect summer make-up! Have you got any foundation favourites for a shine free face in summer? Let me know :)
